A trial dryer has passed its trial run for the production of catalytic converters for motor cars. Our customer’s dryer will be used for product and process improvements.
Longstanding experience
Münstermann has extensive experience in the design and development of such units for the production of catalytic converters. This is mostly about continuous belt dryers and calciners. The fundamentals of the catalytic converters or diesel particle filters are the temperature-stabling supporting elements, so-called honeycombs made of ceramics or metal foil, which have a multitude of thin-walled channels. The honeycomb structures are covered with a reactive coat, which is later responsible for the catalysis of the exhaust fumes. Depending on the production process the coated honeycomb structure has to pass through a roasting or drying process. The honeycombs themselves will then be fitted into their appropriate housings in a separate process
Flexible design of the units
Münstermann’s units are adapted to the respective application. Along with the actual process engineering the dryers or calciners are, for example, so designed that the different models can be produced with the minimum amount of set-up time.
