In some production lines there is a need for fiber collecting drums. The undisputed advantage is that the carrier of the collecting surface does not have to undergo a sudden change of direction. Collection speeds = circumferential speeds of > 200 m/min are then possible. Furthermore, the service life of the drum is considerably longer than the service life of collection systems with chains.
We can draw on experience with fiber collecting drums with a wide range of sizes. For example, small fiber collecting drums with a diameter of 2500 mm have been realized in various lines for pipe shell plants with a capacity of 250 kg/h. The largest fiber collecting drums > 7000 mm with a capacity of > 130,000 t/y were manufactured for the rock wool industry.
Special features of our plants
- The water-cooled surfaces of the suction box to reduce buildup and thus ensure trouble-free production times. The use of "pilow plates" (heat exchanger plates) makes it possible to provide even complex geometries of the suction box with water cooling over almost the entire surface.
- Drive via a pinion toothing is ideally suited for these intensive operating conditions. The double-sided drive additionally takes the torsional stress out of the drum. This is particularly necessary in the event of an emergency stop.
- In addition to various screw conveyors for removing the excess fibers, high-pressure cleaning without moving components has proven to be very effective. A redundant design of the high-pressure pump with cleaning sections controlled segment by segment allows the use of small pumps with high availability at the same time.
Manufacturing and design from a single source
Münstermann is furthermore able to adapt the design here to the requirements of our customers. The production of the complete fiber collecting drum up to the FAT (factory acceptance test) takes place in our company. The drum turns the first time already in our company. This ensures the delivery quality and so problems from the construction site are solved already in our house and a short assembly time is realized.
