"Vapors" are waste air laden with water vapor, such as is the case, for example, during the drying of solids. During drying, the vapors absorb finest dust particles, which are separated in the downstream vapor filter.

Process of separation

For the separation, the exhaust air is sucked from the dryer to the filter through a piping system. The vapors charged with the fine dust thus enter the filter housing. The filter bags, which are tensioned over supporting baskets, are flowed through from the outside to the inside. The selection of the filter medium plays a very important role here, since the filter bags must be suitable for the appropriate application temperatures and must also be equipped with a water-repellent finish. The dust particles thus remain on the outside of the filter bags.

The cleaning of the filter hoses is then carried out automatically with the aid of a compressed air pulse. Depending on the application, the cleaning can be time or differential pressure controlled. Underneath the filter housing is a dust collector, from which the dust or the product is then discharged and can be re-used.

Condensation avoidance

Vapor filters are heated to avoid condensation. Depending on the application, the filters can be heated electrically, with hot steam or with thermal oil. For heating with hot steam or thermal oil, the filters are equipped with a so-called Thermplate system. The Thermplate system provides some advantages, for example very good heat transfer and even distribution of the hot medium. These advantages result in lower operating costs than comparable systems.

In addition to the different versions of the heating, Münstermann can also design the vapor filters as a pressure vessel, vacuum or ATEX system.
