Prestigious Seifriz Prize for Münstermann

Carbon fibres are more and more often replacing special metal materials.

Characteristics such as weight or advantages when integrating several components to make one component are factors in favour. The basis of any component is the carbon fibres which have to be produced with a consistently good quality.

Münstermann, in cooperation with the Fachhochschule Münster, managed successfully to optimise a part of a production process. The aim was to homogenise the temperature and current distribution in the dryers used in a production process. On the basis of the distribution of the flow simulations, under the direction of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Arno Jantzen from the Mechanical Engineering Department, the design of the dryer furthermore could be adjusted by Münstermann in such a way that the height, the material usage, the heat requirement and the fan capacity could be reduced.

Bernd Münstermann and Professor Hans-Arno Jantzen were awarded the nationally advertised Adalbert Seifriz Prize 2009 for the interaction of innovative simulation and manufacturing processes on the one hand and their practical application on the other.
