Drying plants: wicket driers

When drying and thermal treatment are necessary there are always processes that take a relatively long time. This period can amount to several hours.
The reasons for this longer processing time are:
- Long-drawn out drying of a layer when using low temperatures by reason of a very sensitive coating or critical substrate
- Slow running chemical processes in a layer or in a material which require higher temperatures
- Extremely thick coatings or wettings which require a long drying period
One solution to this problem (as long as the material allows) is the wicket drier. In a unit like this, the material to be processed or the coated substrate to be dried will be transported upright at a slight inclination.
The material will be passed on and held in place to the so-called wickets. These wickets determine amongst other things the inclination as well. As is customary the wickets for transport through the drier are attached to angular plate link chains.
