Fibreglass and mineral wool overview
Bag filter systems as replacement for wet scrubbers
As a rule wet-scrubbing comes into operation in the production of glass wool during various processes. Münstermann has developed an innovative concept as a substitute for wet-scrubbing with a dry de-dusting system using bag filters. As a result there are a number of advantages.
Details of use
After the kiln-process the glass wool mats are cut to size. The remaining lengths including the dust from cutting are vacuumed away by the Münstermann filter system. The illustration shows a 3-D sketch of the de-dusting section. In the foreground the pre-separation (chains) for the glass wool particles can be seen.
Advantages of de-dusting with bag filter systems
- The loss of pressure (energy loss) when using the filter plant is less than when employing wet-scrubbing
- With wet-scrubbing the residual dust and harmful substances in the waste water have to be specially disposed of
- When using the new de-dusting method the deposited dust can be returned to the product
- When using filter systems the surrounding peripheral equipment is not as complex as with wet-scrubbing and no sedimentation tank will therefore be required.
